Expedition 33 Dominates at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place on Thursday, and in a stunning display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. This surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the esteemed Top Game award, along with accolades for Best Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's achievements, the skilled cast also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its creative team won seven awards throughout the event.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only 4 special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by critics.
