Barça Set to Play First Game at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
Barça revealed they are set to host at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition two and a half years since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced finished work included a renovated tunnel for players and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session inside the stadium in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
