Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
